Say what you will about Axl's voice but he did pronounce the word "knees" beginning with the letter J. That goes a long way in my book.

I never cared as much about Fragile, as I did The Yes Album, and Close to the Edge, each one far better than the middle album. I was never a fan of Rick Wakeman, in Yes, the Strawbs, or on his own. I saw Yes with Tony Kaye, and with Wakeman, and I wasn't impressed by his contribution. I can't say Tony Kaye was better, either, but I have thought of what might have been, had the band chosen Rick instead of Tony, a few years earlier. I don't think they'd have hit the market the way they did, in 1971. Something about the understated qualities of the songs on The Yes Album leads me to think they'd have been overblown, as many Wakeman tunes were.

Thinking about Lou Gramm and Foreigner. I can't past a lot of the corn ball songs they put out. Listen to the words of Hot Blooded for starters, then the whining, I Wanna Know What Love Is, then move on to Dirty White Boy. The best one, It Feels Like the First Time. That is truly cringe worthy, most of the lyrics in this song are so lame--here's a sample of just one line: "And I guess it's just the woman in you that brings out the man in me." Oh yeah. try telling some floozie you picked up at a bar and just got done banging that "it felt like the first time," With that said, although Gramm has a great rock voice, there are so many great singers out there he wouldn't make my top 10. But, that's just my opinion and you know what they say about opinions.

I don't blame the bands at all for wanting to keep going. I blame the fans entirely for indulging singers who just can't cut it any more. Saw GnR about 7 years ago before Axl's voice had COMPLETELY gone, it was a damn good show. You couldn't pay me to see them now, it's just sad

Not only did Frank Zappa heard about the mudshark incident, but he also questioned Alice Cooper about the chicken slaughtering event at one of Alice's 1969 concerts. Frank supposedly asked Alice "Did you strangle that chicken", and Alice said "No, the fans did when I threw it back to the rabid audience, thinking it would fly away." It's now 2024 and the last Jethro Tull album (which has too many accents for me to type) is superb. I find it infinitely preferable to Aqualung (though not as good as Benefit). For a band that some have written off, they're still doing good things.

You watch a video about Jethro Tull and get an advert for washing powder ffs. RUclips's algorithm is shite.

I've always thought Animals was their last great album. I admire the ambition and scope of The Wall but I don't really enjoy listening to it apart from a few tracks. It's far too self indulgent. I feel the same about The Final Cut. I'm not really a fan of the Gilmour era albums either and find them very unsatisfying. Love everything up to and including Animals though, even the lesser regarded albums like More and Ummagumma.

A bit off topic, but I once tried to initiate a flame war on an old AOL message board with the comment, "Hot Space is better than the White Album!" No one took the bait. Probably cuz they knew I was joking, but still ...

Saw him first in 1980 on the Melt tour. The theatre was hot as the ac was sketchy. This didn’t stop him! I was blown away by this guys energy. Man, I thought what a Genesis show would’ve been like with him. I have seen him many times since and never fails to impress. His performances and music motivate me. I’m sad I couldn’t make the I/O show. Hope he tours again.😮 Cheers to all pg fans!

I never thought of it as a concept album. Regardless, it's a classic. It narrowly beats out 52nd Street as my favorite. Timeless songs. "Scenes" has a proggy feel. And "Vienna" is my favorite Joel song.

This entirely depends how you're framing the question. Overrated in regards to what? Their impact? Your subjective perception of the quality of their music? In terms of impact, The Beatles would struggle to be overrated. In terms of my subjective perception of their music, they're comically overrated. So impressively mediocre by now, no matter how revolutionary they were at the time.

Glad you mentioned Camel. I’d vaguely heard of them awhile back, but not until 2 years ago did I finally acquire some of their earlier albums. I was initially attracted to their unique style through their debut, as I had noticed several, subtle hints from The Doors. But they seem to possess a decent variety of material throughout their discography. They’re just one of many seventies bands who have always flown under the radar.
